MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | The Lions earned their seventh win of the season in dramatic fashion in a 2-1 victory over SCAD Savannah at Dr. Lester Brown Park to wrap up homecoming weekend.

Florida Memorial took an early advantage in the ninth minute when Brad Tulley finished a ball from Tramaine Lawson to earn his fifth goal of the season. The Lions were hungry for a second goal as they kept the pressure high in the Bees’ half of the field as FMU went into the break with a 1-0 lead.

Midway through the latter half, SCAD striker Ryan Holmes gave life to the Bees with a sensational strike from outside the penalty area, going just past the reach of FMU goalkeeper Joshua Aranzazu, producing the equalizer on the road. However, FMU regained the lead in the 81st minute on a brilliant set piece where Tulley found Burak Cuban in the box for a goal. The Lions defense held their own for the remainder of the match to seal the victory.

The aggressive contest consisted of 24 total fouls, 15 of which were called on the Lions.

Florida Memorial outshot the Bees with 21 shots compared to just nine for its counterpart, six of which were on frame.

FMU’s Aranzazu had two saves and allowed one goal throughout the match as he stood behind a stellar back line, led by Tibo Gobet, accompanied by Thomas ColeJaheim RoseSam Richards and Matthis Couinet.

The Lions return to action on Wednesday, October 25 as they travel to Lakeland, Fla. to face Southeastern in conference competition. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the SEU Soccer Field.
