It’s out with the old and in with the new in 2024!

The JC Sams Student Activity Center has entered the second phase of renovation with the arrival and soon to be installed new lounge sofas, tables, and chairs for the spring semester.

The more than 300 furniture pieces that arrived last week, will help to elevate four student common spaces, the game room, student lounge, dining area, and the multipurpose room.

The various shades of gray and blue, and the soft textures will provide a comfortable space for our Lions to meet for collaborative projects, to host social gatherings, or to simply relax and enjoy.

Groupings of metal and wood tables will also complement the seating areas.

Today, Dr. Hardrick, along with several members of FMU’s student leadership, and staff eagerly reviewed the furniture pieces as they we’re being unpacked and sorted.

It’s been more than a decade since the furniture in the student activity center was updated.

Providing a comfortable environment for the students here in Lion Country is very important to the university’s president.

He believes that when the students feel good about their campus, this confidence and pride carries over into the academics.

The Department of Housing and Residence Life will also be receiving the same furniture pieces for the common spaces in FMU’s residential buildings.

Last summer, the floors of the JC Sams Student Activity Center were resurfaced with poured epoxy and the walls repainted, completing phase one.

The furniture ensembles in the JC Sams Student Activity Center should be completed and arranged by the end of the week.
