Re: Shaping a Culture of Service Excellence & Compliance and Being Student-Cent

Date: February 8, 2021

Happy New Year to everyone! Year 2021 will be one filled with opportunities and hope. So, let us make it a year of greatness! As part of Florida Memorial University’s continuing efforts to create a workplace culture that is focused on excellence, it gives me great pleasure to announce the implementation of some important initiatives that will help us shape a Culture of Service Excellence and create a university that is Student-Centric.

Below are several key initiatives being implemented to help us be aligned with our Ascension Strategic Plan and be laser-focused on achieving our goals. To do so requires each of us doing our part to consistently provide quality service, challenge students academically, engage in cutting-edge research, be intentional about telling our success stories, and recommit to our mission and vision.

Official FMU Policy Website

After two years of revising old and developing new policies and procedures, I am pleased to formally announce the University’s new website for policies http://policies.fmuniv.edu/. The website was developed to provide documented instructions on operating policies and procedures. The policies and procedures on the site have been approved by FMU and are intended to serve as a reference in making decisions involving the management and operation of FMU. It is the responsibility of each faculty and staff member to periodically review the site for policy updates. While the majority of you have reviewed the policies and procedures, several of you have inadvertently failed to do so. Those of you who have not done so are asked to review and acknowledge the polices by February 15, 2021.

University-wide Professional Development

At the heart of our culture of excellence is you, our faculty and staff. As we all develop the best versions of ourselves, FMU is committed to providing you with the training and professional development you need to achieve the greatest success in your role. Training is an important hallmark of a thoughtful compliance program and effective workforce. We have designed a variety of

professional development sessions that will help us shape a culture of excellence and produce a high performing workforce. Some of those sessions include but not limited to the following:

  • Title IX
  • Customer Service
  • Becoming a Student-Ready University – Being Student-centric
  • Leadership and Management
  • Effective Teaching and Research
  • Enrollment Management
  • Effective Communication and Team Work
  • Campus Safety/Security
  • Cybersecurity
  • Compliance and Ethics
  • Health & Wellness

Trainings will be delivered virtually and face-to-face. These professional development activities will be recorded for your use in preparing performance appraisals and planning future development sessions.

Campus Conduct Hotline® (CCH)

Finally, we have implemented Campus Conduct Hotline® (CCH) to help maintain the highest ethical standards at FMU. CCH affords individuals a confidential, anonymous way to alert the University of unsafe, illegal or unethical behavior and conduct. It is available twenty-four (24) hours, seven (7) days a week and is operated by an independent organization. (See additional information on CCH attached).

We are committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards at FMU. If you experience or observe what you believe is inappropriate behavior and are unsure what to do, you are obligated to report this information so that we can take appropriate action. Simply call toll-free to 866.943.5787 or access the FMU reporting URL: http://intouchwebsite.com/cch1536

Translation services are available should you need them. Please be advised that this system is to help maintain a compliant and safe work environment. Therefore, use it responsibly.

Please expect additional information from the Office Human Resources and the Office of General Counsel regarding specific training sessions. It is my hope that you are equally excited this new year. I am excited about the upcoming year! Our FMU is Ascending to Excellence!
