How do I know it is time for me to graduate?

Once you have accumulated 90 credits you would be eligible for graduation. The next step is to apply for graduation with the help of your academic advisor.

How do I apply for graduation?

Work with your advisor to complete a Graduation Application form and submit it to the Registrar’s Office at fmuregistrar@fmuniv.edu. This is the first step in the graduation process.

Note: You must submit your application one semester prior to the semester you intend to graduate. Check the academic calendar for the deadline dates.

What if I did not file a graduation application? Will I still graduate?

No. You must file a graduation application, because a degree audit* must be done.
*A degree audit is a letter that tells you if you’re on track for graduation.

Is graduation the same as Commencement?

No. You have graduated when you have completed all your degree and all other specified requirements of the University.

Commencement is the ceremony celebrating your graduation.

How do I know if I have completed all graduation requirements?

You will receive a congratulatory message from the Registrar’s office.

I applied for graduation, but now I am not going to graduate until next semester. What do I need to do?

You are required to submit a new Graduation Application form to fmuregistrar@fmuniv.edu.

What if I do not intend to walk or participate in Commencement? Do I still need to pay the graduation fee?

Yes.

Will my minor(s) be printed on my diploma?

No. Your diploma will only list your degree and major. Your minor(s) will be listed on your Official Academic Transcript.

How can I ensure my name will be included in the Commencement program?

Once you have followed the graduation procedures and timelines provided on the Academic Calendar, your name will appear on the program.

When and where is Commencement?

Florida Memorial University typically hosts Commencement annually on its campus. The University’s Commencement webpage is updated with details on the ceremony. All graduating candidates are kept informed by the Commencement Planning Committee.

Where do I purchase my cap and gown (graduation regalia)?

Candidates who have paid the graduation fee may order caps and gowns here.

When will diplomas be ready?

Diplomas are mailed to all graduates 3 – 4 weeks after graduation. It is important that you ensure your address on file is updated. Request to update your address here.

Can someone pick up my diploma for me?

Yes. Complete the Diploma Delivery Change Request form from the Forms page of our website, then e-mail it to the Registrar’s office. A photo ID will be required of the person picking up the diploma. Diplomas will not be handed over to anyone other than the student, unless this authorization has been presented to the Registrar’s Office.

How may I obtain a copy of my diploma?

To order a copy of your diploma, complete and submit a Diploma Reorder Request Form. The cost is USD $10. Please allow 3 – 7 business days to receive a copy of your diploma.
