El Dorado Furniture donated seven outdoor furniture sets and accessories to Florida Memorial University for the creation of the new FMU Scholars Lounge.

Thanks to this generous donation the second-floor breezeway of the FIU/FMU Building has been transformed into a multifunctional space for tutoring, meetings, and relaxation for students, faculty, and staff.

The delivery and setup happened on Saturday, Oct. 8, but the official unveiling took place on Monday, Oct. 10, with a celebratory breakfast.

Dean of Arts & Sciences, Dr. Samuel Darko provided the welcome, and Provost & Executive Vice President, Dr. Jaqueline Hill, offered words of gratitude to the representatives from El Dorado Furniture.

There was even a musical performance by members of the Ambassador Chorale led by Dr. Argarita Johnson-Palavicini.

Robert Capo, El Dorado Chief Marketing Officer, spoke about the history of his family’s company and the privilege of giving back.

A group of FMU students also presented Capo with a special gift on behalf of the university.

FMU is thankful for the donation and the opportunity to add to the beautification of its campus.

El Dorado Furniture was established in the City of Miami in 1967 and is one of the largest Hispanic-owned home goods stores in the nation.
