Scholarship Opportunities

Departmental Scholarship

Aviation majors may apply for departmental academic scholarships. Our aviation faculty will evaluate each applicant based on the following criteria:

  • Cumulative GPA:  3.0 or higher to be competitive.
  • Department Participation:  Alpha Eta Rho, Women in Aviation, Student Safety Team, Tuskegee Airmen or the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals. The more active you are – the better!  Attendance at departmental seminars and enhancement activities.
  • Character:  Be in good standing with your professors and classmates.
  • Class Attendance:  ON TIME and REGULAR.

Award notifications will be made prior to the end of the semester. You must apply on a semester by semester basis. Contact Vena Symonette-Johnson for applications.

International Society of Transport Trading Aircraft (ISTAT)

The ISTAT Foundation is actively engaged in helping young people develop potential careers in aviation by offering scholarships of up to $10,000 directly to college-level students who are academically qualified, in need of financial support to complete their studies. The program is administered by the Scholarship Committee of the ISTAT Foundation Board of Trustees in conjunction with accredited colleges who recommend qualified students.

Greater Miami Aviation Association (GMAA)

Fostering professionalism in aviation, the GMAA-Batchelor Aviation Scholarship Fund (formerly the GMAA/Grover Loening Scholarship Fund) awards scholarships to qualified aviation students pursuing a career in the South Florida Aviation industry. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic and aviation achievement, leadership and financial need. 10-12 scholarships in amounts up to $6,000 are awarded each year to qualified South Florida college students majoring in aviation and aviation-related programs.

University Aviation Association (UAA)

The University Aviation Association (UAA) is the voice of collegiate aviation education to its members, the industry, government and the general public. Through the collective expertise of its members, this nonprofit organization plays a pivotal role in the advancement of degree-granting aviation programs that represent all segments of the aviation industry.

Today, UAA has more than 600 members, including approximately 200+ institutions worldwide. Through doing research, publication, and the sharing of best practices, the organization and its members are well equipped to meet the evolving needs of the aviation industry and the 21st century.
