FMU track shines at NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships

BROOKINGS, S.D. | The Florida Memorial men’s indoor track and field team participated in the 2023 NAIA Track Indoor National Championships, generating a national champion and a national runner-up.

FMU sophomore sprinter Saminu Abdul-Rahseed was crowned NAIA Indoor Track and Field 60 Meter Dash National Champion, posting a time of 6.63.

“God’s will,” stated the young speedster from Ghana.

Furthermore, Lions senior field athlete Jaylen Coleman was crowned NAIA Indoor Track and Field Triple Jump Runner-Up, leaping a distance of 15.42 meters.

“To be honest, I’ve been through hell and back to get where I’m at today,” said the Alabama native. “This is just the beginning.”

In addition, FMU sprinter Jaylyn Session produced a fifth place finish in the 60 Meter Dash, posting a time of 6.74.

All three FMU student-athletes were dubbed NAIA All-Americans.
