The FMU Lions have been training hard with new head coach Bobby Rome II for the official start of the 2022 college football season on Saturday, August 27, against Edward Waters University at the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex, 3000 NW 199th Street in Miami Gardens.
Coach Rome is eager to lead the Lions in its third season since the relaunch of the football program after a 62-year hiatus. Rome is the second head coach in the modern era of FMU football.
On September 3, the Lions travel to Baton Rouge, La., for a historic game as FMU faces its first non-NAIA team in program history; NCAA D1 (FCS) and Southwestern Athletic Conference Opponent Southern University and new head coach Eric Dooley.
The Lions kickoff at 6 p.m. at A.W. Mumford Stadium before returning to Florida to take on Southeastern on September 10 at 7 p.m. in Lakeland.
