FOR ALL NEW OR TRANSFER STUDENT LOAN BORROWERS
All students that wish to utilize federal student loan eligibility will need to complete Entrance Counseling as well as the Master Promissory Note (MPN). For student borrowers, this process will only need to be completed once during your enrollment here at FMU.
Parents may apply for Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS). The PLUS loan is a credit-based loan and parents must reapply each academic year.
Students and parents can learn more and complete the necessary processes online by visiting www.studentaid.gov.
Student Borrowers:
- Under the heading COMPLETE AID PROCESS:
1. Complete Entrance Counseling – Student
2. Complete Master Promissory Note- Student
PLUS Applicants:
- Under the heading APPLY FOR AID:
1. Apply for a Parent PLUS Loan
2. Complete PLUS Credit Counseling
The U.S. Department of Education will notify the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships when a student has completed the Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note. Please allow up to 3 business days as these notifications are sent electronically and must be updated in our system. The same is applicable for parent loan borrowers. PLUS borrowers will also be notified of the credit decision by the U.S. Department of Education via email or mail.
