Exit Procedures

WHAT IS EXIT COUNSELING?

Exit counseling provides important information that you need as you prepare to repay your federal student loan(s). Exit Counseling is required for all Federal Direct Stafford Loan recipients that have met one or more of the following conditions:

  • Withdraw
  • Graduate
  • Drop below half-time (less than 6 credit hours)

Exit counseling requirements were created to ensure that you understand your rights and responsibilities as a borrower. During the counseling, you will learn how to make payment of your loans easier and how to get help and protect your credit rating if you have problems.
