Campus Ministry

Susie C. Holley Religious CenterFlorida Memorial University was founded by the Baptist Home Mission and believes that a relationship with the divine is essential. Named after former State of Florida Women’s President, Susie C. Holley, the chapel is the spiritual center of our campus and provides students, faculty and staff with worship, study and counseling support through ecumenical Christian outreach.

Campus Ministry is housed at the Susie C. Holley Religious Center, located across from the front gate. Campus Ministry is the source of spiritual leadership in student life. As a part of the Division of Student Affairs, the Campus Ministry seeks to help students on their path to holistic development by providing resources to expand their understanding of the connection between academic development and one’s own spiritual and personal development.

The mission of the Campus Ministry is to establish God’s presence at every level of our university. The Dean of Campus Ministry is the campus pastor who performs a variety of tasks, including spiritual counseling and participation in major university events such as Freshman Convocation, Founders’ Day and Baccalaureate Service. The dean seeks to build relationships with students to encourage them not to neglect their spiritual growth and development. As a university campus, we are also mindful of our interfaith responsibility to nourish all students regardless of their beliefs.

Students are invited to participate in the FMU Campus Ministry. Student ministers are invited to become members of the Chapel Ambassadors, students who assist in the implementation of the ministry across the campus and support worship and Bible Study. Since the chapel is the campus church, it is open to all students to display their skills in music, dance, poetry and leadership.
