Frequently Asked Questions

How often will I need to test once I am admitted to campus?
All students, faculty, and staff will need to have a weekly COVID-19 test. You can do so in the Lou Rawls Center for the Performing Arts on the following days:

  • Monday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, NO TESTING
  • Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

What if I test positive?
You will need to leave campus immediately in accordance with CDC and Health Department guidelines. After the designated isolation period, you will be given a date to return to campus with proof of negative test results. The same protocol applies to guests.

Do guests on campus need a COVID-19 test?
All guests visiting campus for longer than four (4) hours will need to take a COVID-19 test upon arrival. Guests arriving on campus through the main gate for less than four (4) hours will have their temperature taken and be given a gold wristband by a Campus Safety officer. If the temperature is 100.4 or above, the guest(s) will be asked to leave campus.

Where and when can I get tested?
Rapid testing is available to all students on campus every Monday and Thursday in the Living Learning Building 1 lobby. The Jessie Trice Mobile Unit is available for faculty and staff testing on Thursdays between 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Appointments are not needed.

How long will it take to get test results?
Rapid testing results are available within 15 minutes, and results from the Jessie Trice Mobile Unit are sent within a few days.

When do I need to move out of my residence hall?
All students must officially check out of the residence halls by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 13, unless they receive prior approval from the Division of Student Affairs. Students should continue to monitor their FMU email from the Division of Student Affairs for additional instructions.

What should I do if I feel sick?
If you are experiencing Coronavirus symptoms, please reach out to the Jessie Trice Community Health Center at 305-626-3110, Monday-Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. After hours and on weekends, contact TELADOC: 1-855-835-2362.

What is the protocol to return to campus from Winter Break?
All students will need to provide negative test results within 72 hours of arrival on campus.
