The Center for Academic Resources and Support (CARS) is a Freshman Success Center. While providing a comprehensive learning community, CARS ensures that students are immersed in holistic academic services designed to transition them into an environment of higher education. The staff consists of academic advisor-advocates, mathematics instructors, a math interventionist, a writing coach, tutors, and a testing and accommodations coordinator, who are well-versed in their areas of expertise and are ready to assist students in achieving their academic goals. CARS is committed to the retention and persistence of new and transferring students by providing a comprehensive First-Year Experience (FYE) program.

The CARS staff works daily to guide students toward building good character, exceptional academic habits, and confidence in their abilities. The CARS team works to empower incoming students with the leadership skills necessary to take control of their future. Our enriching programs allow students to explore the larger world, engage in culturally diverse activities, and realize their potential. FMU students are provided an all-inclusive education designed to empower them as leaders and changemakers in the world. Academic success depends upon self-discovery.
CARS offices and labs are located in Sarah A. Blocker Hall. Office hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm daily.
