UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS
Florida Memorial University seeks to attract students who have the potential for success and who present the necessary personal and academic qualities to derive maximum benefit from the programs offered here at the institution.
Freshman Students
1. High School Graduation
Graduated from an accredited high school or the equivalent GED is required.
2. Grade Point Average
A minimum high school cumulative grade point average of 2.4 is required. Students who have a high school cumulative grade point average which places them in the top twenty percent of their graduating class, and who complete the high school course distribution requirements as specified below, shall be given automatic admission to Florida Memorial University.
3. Admission Test Scores
Applicants should submit SAT-I or ACT scores. Test scores are also used for advisement and placement purposes for first-time-in-college applicants.
4. High School Course Distribution requirements for Florida Residents
A student’s high school preparation should include units in the following core areas:

- English 4 units (3 with substantial writing)
- Mathematics 3 units (Algebra 1 and above)
- Natural Science 3 units (2 with lab)
- Social Science 3 units
- Foreign Language 2 units (in the same language)
- Approved Electives 4 units
Graduate Students
As a transfer student new to FMU, you are strongly encouraged to attend one of the FMU New Lion Orientation sessions TBA. The August Orientation/Registration is required of all new students.
Listed below are a few steps to complete to ensure a smooth, successful start at FMU:
- Contact your Academic College for additional orientation requirements
- Follow the class registration process and timeline outlined by your Academic College
- Schedule a campus tour through the Department of Admissions
- Obtain your official FMU identification card and register for WENS emergency alerts
- Secure your parking with Campus Security
- Register for Orientation
- Secure housing and pay deposit
- Complete New Student Next Steps (Step one, Step two, Step three information)
New FMU Lion Checklist
Make sure to complete the following as soon as possible:
1. All of the required enrollment forms based on your student classification (domestic, international, or graduate).
The following forms are required for undergraduates planning to reside on campus:
- Health History & Authorization for Medical Treatment Form
- Immunization Record Form
- Housing Agreement Form
- Vehicle Registration Form
- Emergency Contact Information Form
- Physical Examination Form
The following forms are required for ALL students:

Transfer Requirements
- Submit $25.00 money order / cashier’s check with application (fee is nonrefundable)
- Forward official copies of all college transcripts to the Admissions office
Florida Memorial University accepts courses earned at other post-secondary institutions, provided that
- The grade earned in major courses, and core English, reading, and mathematics courses is a “C” or higher;
- The courses represent collegiate coursework relevant to the degree program being pursued at the institution;
- The course content, level of instruction and resulting competencies are equivalent to those of students enrolled at the institution; and
- All official transcripts are submitted to the institution.
A maximum of 90 credits total may be transferred to Florida Memorial University. The school’s dean and the Provost must approve all transfer credits used toward a degree. A minimum of 25% of the credit hours required for a student’s degree must be earned by instruction at Florida Memorial University.

High School Work
International students who studied in the British educational system should have passed a minimum of five (5) subjects at the ordinary level in the General Certificate Examination or its equivalent, including English and mathematics. If student transcripts are not in English, students will also need to submit an official translation of their transcripts. Evaluations must be conducted through a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) Organization or the recommended agencies below:

Students whose enrollment at Florida Memorial University is interrupted for more than one semester are required to submit an application for re-admission. The application must be sent to the Office of Admissions. Students placed on academic suspension must sit out one semester (fall or spring) before eligibility for re-admission is restored.
Students in good academic standing who voluntarily withdraw from the University for one or more academic years are required to apply for re-admission. Students must satisfy the degree requirements for graduation stated in the university catalog for the academic year in which the student is readmitted.
