Complete Florida Memorial Undergraduate Admissions Application via our institutional application or the Common Black College Application.

Submit $25.00 money order / cashier’s check with application (fee is nonrefundable). Fee waivers are also accepted for payment.

Florida Memorial University accepts courses earned at other post-secondary institutions, provided that the grade earned in major courses, and core English, reading, and mathematics courses is a “C” or higher.

International Applicants

Freshman and Transfers-same as domestic but add the following:

Self-report official English Proficiency Test Scores if your native language is not English.

English Proficiency Information

Official English Language Proficiency results are required of all international applicants whose native language is not English. The following are the minimum scores required for admission to the University, although some departments require higher scores at the graduate level:

Internet based TOEFL (IBTOEFL): 80

Paper based TOEFL (TOEFL): 550

International English Language Testing System (Academic IELTS): 6.5

Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): 77

Pearson Test of English (PTE): 55

These scores are considered official only when they are sent directly to the Office of Admissions from the testing agency, and are not valid after two years.

All transcripts/academic records that are not in English must be accompanied by certified English translations.

To be considered “certified,” documents should be true copies that are signed and dated by an educational official familiar with academic records. Any translated record should be literal and not an interpretive translation. Documents signed by a notary or other public official with no educational affiliation will not be accepted.

If the transcript/academic record does not indicate the degree earned and date the degree was awarded, separate proof of degree is required.

Applicants should submit official or certified copies of all secondary school records and/or examination results. All credentials from non-U.S. institutions must be evaluated by a foreign credential evaluation agency to include a U.S. equivalent grade point average. We recommend a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, (NACES). All academic records must be issued in the native language and be accompanied by a certified English translation. Student Self-Service account allows you to monitor the status of your application and required materials 24/7. Most of our communications, including our admission decisions, will be available on your FMU Student Self-Service account. It is your responsibility to check your email account and the Student Self-Service account on a regular basis. To ensure that you are receiving timely communication from FMU, please ensure that we always have your most up-to-date email address, phone number, and mailing address.

Finances

Florida Memorial University is required by U.S. federal regulations to verify the financial resources of each applicant prior to issuing the Certificate of Eligibility (Form I-20 or DS-2019). If granted admission to the University, an email with instructions on how to complete the online Declaration of Finances form will be sent from the Office of Admissions. You will provide information verifying your financial support (bank statements, award letters, scholarships, etc.). FMU requires proof of financial support for each year of study and demonstrated availability of funds for the length of your academic program.

U.S. federal grants and loans are not awarded to international students. However, student may be eligible for institutional scholarships. Funding is limited and qualified applicants must apply by the priority deadline of December 1st of each academic year to be eligible for awarding.

Scholarship Criteria

Blue Scholarship: FTIC Students, minimum gpa-3.75-renewable for 4 years

Orange Scholarship: FTIC Students, minimum gpa-3.5-renewable for 4 years

Lions Scholarship: Transfer Students with minimum 30 credits and 3.0 gpa. One time award

The Blue, Orange, and Lion Transfer Scholarships are open to qualified incoming U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and international Transfer students only. Priority consideration will be given to students who have submitted a complete FMU Undergraduate Admissions application and have submitted their 2020-2021 FAFSA application by December 1, 2019. Scholarships are competitive and awarded on a “funds availability” basis. Scholarship awards do not include orientation, housing deposit, meal plan, and other student related fees. Scholarship offers will be finalized once final transcripts have been received and final gpa has been verified.
