The office of Outreach and Academic Development is pleased to announce the return of our summer programming. Our residential programs include the Beckford Band Camps at Florida Memorial University Presents Summer Band Camp 2021, Jazz Camp, FMU Cheerleading Camp, USAF Jr. ROTC Summer Program, and our FMU Volleyball Camp. Our nonresidential camps consist of the Black Male College Explorers Program, FMU Chorale Camp, Herman LeVern Jones’ TheatreSouth Camp and our new Girl Code Program which seeks to provide fundamental support to minority girls in preparation for careers in the technology industry, specifically first-generation girls and low-income. The program will provide the curricula and certifications they need to succeed in a tech-driven economy. As we look at preparing them for viable employment or entrepreneurship, program participants will choose from two different career tracks – front-end developer or game stack developer.
The office of Outreach & Academic Development is also conversing with external organizations to share our community space. These organizations include the Trayvon Martin Foundation located in Miami Gardens and Teen Upward Bound located in Opa-locka.
These summer camps/programs will occur on the campus of Florida Memorial University beginning first week of June throughout the first week of August, adhering closely to FMU’s Covid19 Protocols and the Center for Diseases Control Covid19 guidelines.
