Meet the Team

Dr. Imani Fredricks-Lowman recently joined the FMU family and is the founding Director of the Center for Teaching Learning (CTL) and Assistant Professor of Sociology. She is charged with designing, developing, activating, and operating the CTL which is devoted to teaching and learning, including, but not limited to, distance education.

Before joining FMU, Dr. Fredricks-Lowman served as the Associate Dean and Assistant Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies in University College at Zayed University in the United Arab Emirates. In her role as Associate Dean, she was responsible for faculty affairs of the college and supervised the Department Chairs on the Abu Dhabi and Dubai campuses, oversaw curriculum development, spearheaded the recruitment and selection process, and utilized performance management results to create individualized progression plans. In addition to her administrative duties, she has also taught undergraduate courses in Career Exploration, Academic Development, Global Awareness, Social Psychology, and Global Conflict Analysis and Resolution. Prior to that, she served as the Senior Director of the Career Services Office at Florida International University in Miami, FL.

Dr. Imani Fredricks-Lowman has earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and her Masters and Doctoral Degrees in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from Nova Southeastern University.
