Placement Testing/PERT Assessment

Newly admitted students to Florida Memorial University must satisfy one of the requirements below as part of their onboarding checklist and before they can be registered in classes.

  • SAT scores equal to or greater than 24 for Math, 25 for Writing, and 24 for Reading
  • ACT scores equal to or greater than 19 for Math, 17 for Writing, and 19 for Reading
  • Official transcript showing successful completion of college-level English and Math (either transfer work, dual-enrollment, AP scores, or the equivalent)
  • Completion of the PERT exam(s) via Florida Memorial University for Math, Writing, and Reading.

PERT is an online assessment that indicates at what level for the math and English reading and writing a student places entering FMU. Students who must take the PERT should estimate 1-3 hours for testing, depending on which exams you are required to take (Math, Writing, and/or Reading).

Special testing times may be possible based on extenuating circumstances.
