Re: University COVID-19 Update
As you head home early for the holiday season, let me commend the way our FMU family has continued to prioritize the safety and well-being of our community. Our S.P.R.E.A.D. Lion Pride campaign (Sanitize, Protect, Respect, Educate, and Distance) continues to make a strong impact on campus. Because of your cooperation, we continue to report zero positive cases. You can view our COVID-19 Dashboard anytime for the most recent results of our campus testing. Please read below for this week’s updates.
We encourage you to continue getting tested biweekly at home, if easily accessible, as everyone will need to provide negative test results within 72 hours of your return to campus after the break.
Academics and Student Housing
Students, while you are home, remember to continue your course work. Our faculty and staff are ready, willing, and able to help you excel for a successful finish to the Fall semester. We wish you the best of luck on your final exams in December.
All students should have officially checked out of the residence halls by 5:00 p.m. yesterday unless they have received prior approval from the Division of Student Affairs. You can also find recent Messages to Students here.
Please take this opportunity to register for Spring 2021 semester before leaving campus for the break. We will provide a free WiFi Hot Spot to the first 100 students who register for Spring, clear the business office, complete their graduation paperwork (if eligible), and complete the 2021–22 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by logging in to www.studentaid.gov. Please note, the WiFi Hot Spots will be distributed upon return to campus for the Spring semester.
Keep up with Lions basketball from anywhere in the world! While we can’t cheer on our men’s and women’s basketball teams in person, you can find live streams for all home and away games on www.fmuathletics.com.
If you are traveling internationally over the break, be sure to check the latest travel advisories by country on our updated COVID-19 website. Most countries have specific protocols you must follow regarding testing and quarantine upon arrival.
Employee Assistance Program
As a reminder to faculty and staff, should you need support services, they are available through our Employee Assistance Program (EAP). To learn more about the Lincoln Financial EmployeeConnect program, visit www.guidanceresources.com, or call 888-628-4824.
We remain committed to advancing your education in the safest possible environment. I wish everyone safe travels home. Even while you are away from campus, remember to S.P.R.E.A.D. Lion Pride and Stop COVID-19.
