NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BLACK JOURNALISTS’ (NABJ) EXECUTIVES VISIT FLORIDA MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY (FMU) PREPARING FOR NEXT YEAR’S ANNUAL CONVENTION
(Miami Gardens, FL, October 12, 2018) A top team of leaders from NABJ visited FMU this week, to meet with Interim President Jaffus Hardrick and explore the Campus. Their liaison, South Florida’s NABJ Chapter Board member and FMU journalism professor, Russell Motley, is coordinating local efforts as the group prepares to hold the 2019 NABJ Annual Convention in Miami.

More than 200 of Florida Memorial University’s scholars were celebrated last Thursday at the Honors and Awards Day. Interim President Jaffus Hardrick and department chairs presented each student with awards that included a presidential scholar, outstanding scholar in academic field of study, dean’s list, honor roll and honor societies.

FMU Venezuelan student Yulianna Charris succeeds amid challenges in South Florida
When Yulianna Charris moved from Venezuela to South Florida, she didn't know English and didn't have any family or friends with her. Just two years later, Charris has managed to learn English, land a prestigious internship in Silicon Valley and become one of her college's top volleyball champs -- all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA.

FMU’s Ivana Maric Wins the 2018 Ev Clay/PRSA Miami Scholarship
Miami Gardens, FL (October 3, 2018) – Florida Memorial University’s (FMU) decorated Communications program is showcasing another stellar student in Ivana Maric. The Miami chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) awarded Maric a $2,750 Ev Clay Scholarship. The PRSA Miami Endowment supports excellence in the public relations profession and since its establishment in 1985 has helped over 153 students.
