Words on the Way
September 13, 2005

(15)
His fame spread far and wide, for he was greatly helped until he became powerful. (16) But after Uzziah became powerful, his pride led to his downfall. He was unfaithful to the LORD his God, and he entered the temple of the LORD to burn incense on the altar of incense.

II Chronicles 26:15-16 (NIV)

Uzziah who became King of Judah was not a proud man until he rose to power. The sin of pride led Uzziah away from his proper place, and to a place meant only for the priests; the altar of incense. His pride blinded him to sin, which later caused him to have leprosy that he kept until the day he died.

His sin of pride cut short his reign and legacy. Never forget where you came from, and should the Lord allow you to rise in the world, never let pride so blind you that you walk into sin. The more that you are blessed, the more you should seek the Lord for a spirit of humility. God Bless -- Harold B. Valin
