3rd Annual President’s Golf Tournament
The 3rd Annual President’s Golf Tournament was held on Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Country Club of Miami. Proceeds will support the President’s Scholarship Fund, established in 2011, to provide merit-based scholarships to new and current students.
Tom Joyner Foundation Reception
As a part of its ongoing commitment to education and black art, the Tom Joyner Foundation hosted an “Art & Hors d’Oeuvres” fundraiser in Miami on Friday, April 5, to support students at Florida Memorial University (FMU), South Florida’s only historically black university. The Foundation has chosen Florida Memorial as the April School of the Month, a nationally publicized fundraising campaign that is promoted by the Tom Joyner Morning Show, which is heard in more than 100 markets nationwide; the show has more than 8 million listeners every week.

FMU Purchases New Plane
The Florida Memorial University (FMU) Aviation and Safety Department ushered in a new era of excellence on Sept. 28 when more than 100 guests joined university officials and students at the Opa-Locka Airport to help dedicate the newest addition to the South Florida skies. The orange-and-blue Cessna 172 SP with G1000 Avionics, is a single-engine, four-passenger aircraft that will allow students to earn various pilot licenses and instrument ratings. Mychal Martin, a recent FMU aviation graduate, was at the controls on this day. He is now a certified flight instructor at Endeavor Flight Training, Inc.
