If you think you may need financial assistance in order to attend the Florida Memorial University, we encourage you to apply for financial aid by the deadline dates listed below. You may apply for aid before being accepted or enrolling in the university.

HOW TO APPLY: OVERVIEW

Entering freshmen and transfer students must complete two applications to apply for aid:

Information on these forms determines your expected family contribution and your eligibility for aid programs. Be sure to submit these forms by the deadline dates listed below to be considered for all aid programs (use estimated tax information if necessary). We must receive your FAFSA and FMU Financial Aid Application information by the April 14, priority filing date to consider you for all aid programs. Although you may apply later, you might not be considered for all aid programs. Do not wait to be admitted before applying for aid!

APPLICATION TIMELINE FOR FALL/SPRING AID

During your senior year of high school (or the year before you wish to enroll):

In January:

  • Complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to the federal processor at www.fafsa.gov to be considered for all need-based and non-need-based federal and state aid programs, including the Pell Grant, Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants, FMU Academic Scholarship, FSAG, FRAG Direct Loan, and Work-Study.

The new FAFSA is available on Jan. 1 each year.

  • Complete and submit the FMU Financial Aid Application to be considered for all need-based grants and scholarships, and any other need-based FMU scholarships. Note: The Office of Financial Aid will contact students by email if they must submit additional documents.

The FMU Financial Aid Application is available on Jan. 1 each year. You may submit it when you submit your FAFSA.

Rejected FAFSA: If your FAFSA is rejected by the federal processor, it is not considered “processed” and you may miss the March 1, priority filing date. The most common reason why a FAFSA is rejected is when it is missing the required signatures.

April 14: Priority Filing Date. The University’s Office of Financial Aid must receive your FAFSA and FMU Financial aid Application by this date to consider you for all aid programs.

April 30: Some students may be required to submit additional documents for verification purposes. The Office of Financial Aid will contact students by email if they must submit additional documents. If we request that you submit additional documents our office must receive them by April 30 to consider you for all aid programs.

SPRING SEMESTER ADMISSION

  • If you are planning to apply for admission to FMU for Spring Semester, complete the current year FAFSA and the FMU Financial Aid Application at the time you apply for admission. Do not wait to be admitted before applying for aid.
  • To be considered for all aid programs, our office must receive your FAFSA record from the federal processor and your FMU Financial aid Application by December 1, (allow three to four weeks for processing). We will notify you by email if we need additional documents or information; these materials must be submitted within 30 days of notification for you to be considered for all aid programs.
  • If you have already filed a FAFSA, but you have not requested that the results be sent to Florida Memorial University (School Code 001486), go to http://www.fafsa.gov and select “Make Corrections to a Processed FAFSA” or call 1-800-4-FEDAID.

SUMMER AID

Students entering in the Summer Semester who want to apply for financial aid must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the current academic year. Complete the FAFSA online and submit the FMU Financial Aid Application.

APPLYING FOR SCHOLARSHIPS

UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIPS
Students are considered for most Florida Memorial University scholarship programs upon admission to the University and do not need to apply separately for most university scholarships. We encourage you to submit your admissions application early to receive equal consideration with other applicants. Once you are admitted, go to My Scholarship Profile on on the Universities website to complete your scholarship profile. This will ensure that you are considered for all scholarships that you are eligible for. Please note that to be considered for scholarships that are awarded to students with financial need, you must also apply for financial aid. For more information, see our Scholarships page.
