Good Monday Evening FMU Family!

As always, great things are happening at FMU!

On Friday, FMU welcomed Dr. Ivory Toldson, Deputy Director of the White House Initiative on HBCUs.  Dr. Toldson delivered an address entitled “HBCUs Are Our Brother’s Keeper.”  Special thanks to Mr. Kareem Coney and Mr. Shawn Davis who coordinated the visit as well as to Trustees Marc Henderson and Minister Horace Hord for your participation in this important event.

A Thank You Note from Dr. Tamar Riley:

Thank you to the School of Education all for making the 2014 School of Education Graduate Research Conference a success! We had approximately 60 people attend the event and received a lot of positive feedback. At least 20 of our visitors were interested in learning about our three graduate programs.

Special thanks to Dr. Berry, for your inspiration! Potential candidates were well informed by our program coordinators’ highlights of their individual program and appreciated the individual attention you provided to them.

From the room setup to the refreshments, everything looked professional and the food got a lot of compliments! Thank you to Mrs. Bendross, our wonderful catering staff (Thompson Hospitality), our Aramark workers, and campus safety for ensuring that our event left a lasting and positive experience. Our graduate candidates commented how lovely they thought the event was and appreciated everyone’s efforts to ensure a high-quality experience. Mrs. Cheryl Phillip gets a special “shout out” for really working within our tight deadlines in assisting us in pushing paper, ordering, and following up to provide an on time delivery of materials. Our programs were very nice; thank you Mr. Trevor Walker for creating a nice booklet for us!

A special thank you to Mrs. Angela Williams for assisting with the registration and picture taking! We look forward to seeing those photos. Last but not least… I am thankful for the HOURS of assistance in the planning of the conference by our amazingly talented, Ms. Lakeisha Cash! Your hard work helped to make this conference one of the best yet.

Thanks again to all!

Dr. Tamar Riley
