The mission of the Florida Memorial University Library is to provide resources and instructional material in support of the transmission and exchange of scholarly information. The library evaluates its programs, collections, technology, service delivery, and other activities on a regular basis, in order to meet the challenges of a changing technological and global society. The Florida Memorial University Library seeks to be both an educational resource center for the university community, and a learning organization that constantly works to maximize its effectiveness in accomplishing it mission. In order to achieve its mission, the library has developed the following goals:

Maintain and provide access to an organized collection of educational materials, instructional resources, and state-of –the-art information technology, to meet current and changing information needs of the university community;

Recruit, develop and train a competent and diverse staff to design and deliver information and instructional services, using various methodologies, in support of teaching, learning, research, and service;

Build collections in all formats which reflect the multi-ethnic character of the students and faculty, as well as the expansion of degree programs;

Identify, acquire, organize, preserve, and make available special collections of historical and enduring significance, for the use of present and future generations, reflecting the growth, development and contributions of the university and of black people;

Evaluate and upgrade print and non-print materials, online resources, electronic technologies, and all other aspects of library services and operations, to provide users the best possible access to information resources and services both on campus and distant locations;

Develop cooperative relationships with local, regional, and national library resources, networks, and consortia; and

Maintain and enhance physical facilities and provide efficient space for housing and preserving collections, workspace for staff and the provision of services in a technologically sophisticated environment.
