General Network Information

The Division of Information Management and Technology maintains a redundant fiber backbone network for use by the Florida Memorial University community.  Access to the network is restricted and every effort is made to insure that current security and virus protection is maintained on the network. 

When accessing the Florida Memorial University network, the following message is displayed:

All Florida Memorial University network users should familiarize themselves with the policies that govern use of the network.  

Requesting a New Network Connection

Requests for connection(s) to the Florida Memorial University’s network should be submitted on a Service Request form that may be faxed to 305-623-4233, hand delivered to the Helpdesk or e-mailed to Helpdesk@fmuniv.edu. 

The following information is required: 

• If the department currently has equipment to be connected you must include the type of equipment and quantity to be connected. If equipment has not yet been purchased you should include the number of connections desired as well as the type of equipment anticipated.
  
  
• Location at which equipment is to be installed.
  
  
• Name and telephone number of contact person.
  
  
• Desired installation date.
  
• Authorized department signature. 

A representative of the IMT staff will prepare a cost estimate for the specific equipment required to meet the needs of the department and will consult with the department to facilitate the connection. 

Departments requesting connection to the Florida Memorial University network should notify IMT as soon as the need is identified as there may be delays caused by equipment availability and/or site preparation.  Early notification allows IMT to plan for and overcome these problems
