Every Monday 6:30-7:30pm and Tuesdays 7:30-8:30pm beginning Jan 18 in the Student Union Multi-Purpose Room. Practice Afro-Brazilian martial art/musical tradition. Co-sponsored by Study Abroad Program and Student Affairs. Free to campus and community.
UBUNTO
Workshop 1: Wed., Feb. 3rd & Workshop 2: Wed., Feb. 24th. Both at 5:30-7:30pm at the Library 1st Floor Classroom. Learn how to explore and document history through the use of African Diasporic folklore, tales and songs. Only 20 participants.
“RHYTHMS OF AFRICA”
Workshop 1: Fri., Feb. 5 10am-12 noon & Workshop 2: Thurs., Feb. 18th 11am-12noon. Lou Rawls Center for the Performing Arts. Discover and practice African drumming with renowned musician Willie Stewart. Florida Memorial affiliates for free. Non-affil $5.
AFRICAN DIASPORA DANCE
Friday, Feb. 5th 1-3pm @ Lou Rawls Center for the Performing Arts. Participate in this rich workshop on dance techniques across the African Diaspora. Open to campus and community for free. Only 20 participants.
BLACK MIAMI TOUR
Saturday, Feb. 9th @ 8:30 a.m. City-sponsored tour departs @ 9am from the Stephen P. Clark Center at 111 NW 1st St., located in downtown Miami. FLORIDA MEMORIAL BUSES to leave at 8:30am from Lion Shop to catch the city-provided tour buses.

Friday, Feb. 19th @ 7pm Featuring celebrated and award-winning author Marita Golden @ Lou Rawls Theatre. Book signing immediately following event. FREE EVENT BUT TICKETS REQUIRED AND DONATIONS ACCEPTED.
ALAFIA! : AFRICAN DIASPORA FOOD FESTIVAL
Fri. Feb. 26th @ Noon. Join us for a celebration of culture and history! Announcement of Annual African Diasporic Scholarship winner! Cowries (Participants can enter contest to get cowry shell for each Black History Month event attended.)
