Student Financial Assistance Quick
Reference
The primary role of this office is
to provide financial assistance to students and families, facilitating their
full participation in the total educational experience. We encourage all
students to apply for financial Aid by completing the application procedures
listed below by the priority deadline. More detailed information is available in
the Florida Memorial University Financial Aid consumer bulletin.
Priority
Deadline
In order to be considered for
the maximum number of different types of funds available to qualified students
for a new academic year, which begins the following Fall Semester, students must
meet Florida Memorial University's priority deadline of April 14th. To meet this
deadline, the following documents must be in the student's financial aid file:
Students Aid Report, Florida Memorial University Financial AID application,
William D. Ford Loan Request Form, Federal Income Tax Return (parents and/or
students) or other income verification forms.
How
To Apply
Students SHOULD NOT wait until
admission acceptance to Florida Memorial University prior to applying for
financial aid. To request a financial aid form, please contact the office
of Students Financial Assistance.
Students
need to APPLY for financial aid EACH YEAR using a FAFSA or a Renewal
Application. If a Renewal Application has already been submitted, there is no
need to complete a FAFSA or renewal
application and vice versa.

take 4 to 6 weeks to complete. Please apply well in advance of stated
deadlines.

Filing
a free application for Federal student aid (FAFSA)
This application could be obtained
from students’ high school guidance counselor, any post secondary schools and
the internet at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
Carefully and thoroughly complete the form. The report from FAFSA (ISIR) must be in this office by April
14th for the upcoming Fall Semester to meet Florida Memorial University priority
deadline.
Other
Required Documents
In addition to filing the FAFSA, students must also
submit to the office of student a Florida Memorial University financial aid
application, a William D. Ford Loan Request Form, Federal Income Tax Returns and
/or any other income verification forms. If additional information is requested,
submit the data promptly. Delays can be frustrating as well as costly.
Student
Requirements
Financial aid is offered to
students, who are classified as degree seeking at Florida Memorial University,
are citizens or permanent residents of the United States, Mariana Islands or
Pacific trust territories and maintain satisfactory academic progress.
After
Completion Of The Application
Federal regulations sometimes
require this office to verify the information provided on students’ ISIR/Student
Aid Report. A student may accept or eject any of the program awards offered to
him/her. Award amounts are based on a full-time enrollment basis. When a student
is not registered on a full-time basis, specific program award may be reduced or
eliminated entirely.
Notification and Payment Process
Student
will be notified by Florida Memorial University Office of Student Financial
Assistance of his/her Federal Direct loan eligibility, the academic terms of the
award period and the amount to be borrowed. A William D. Ford Federal Direct
Loan Request Form will be mailed to student, which must be completed and
returned to this office. First-time borrowers at Florida Memorial University
must complete a Loan Entrance Interview form before any loan proceeds can be
disbursed. Disbursements: No funds are disbursed prior to the beginning
of classes. Awards are usually disbursed approximately six (6) weeks into the
semester. Setting aside funds for books and emergencies is greatly advised. If
student's award includes a Federal Direct Loan, a visit to the office of Student
Financial Assistance, to sign a promissory note, is required before the loan
proceeds are disbursed.
