The Presidential Jazz Band

Professor Melton Mustafa, Director

The Jazz ensemble is a direct result of the overall efforts designed to establish a first class jazz program at Florida Memorial University.  With and under the auspices of past Music Coordinator Dr. Alfred Pinkston, 1996 marked the beginning of a new and unique instrumental and vocal program.  The Jazz Band is one of the integral components of this program.  The Jazz Band has performed at numerous events such as the annual Melton Mustafa Jazz Festival, corporate gatherings, conventions, Walt Disney World International Festival and government functions in the State capital to name just a few.  Steel pan majors are part of the Jazz Band establishing a unique sound that we call “Pazz”.
