The Department of Computer Science and Mathematics offers an undergraduate program leading to the Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. Majoring in mathematics gives students a solid analytical training applicable to any field of study. The curriculum of the program incorporates the two divisions of mathematics: pure mathematics- geometry, algebra, calculus, trigonometry and applied mathematics- statistics, numerical analysis, ordinary differential equations, discrete mathematics. It also includes computer science, social science and humanities courses in order to produce knowledgeable and well-rounded graduates.

A degree in mathematics provides a foundation of logical thinking, problem solving and decision-making. In today’s society, these are very powerful tools used in many different fields. This program is designed to prepare students for advanced study or careers as mathematicians, actuaries, mathematical economists, operations researchers or teachers of mathematics. A minimum of 45 credit hours in mathematics above the 100-level is required. A grade of “C” or better must be earned in each mathematics course.

Graduation Requirements

This degree program requires a minimum of 121 semester hours for completion.
