UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM Department Mission Statement
The mission of the Department of Computer Science and Mathematics is to produce graduates who have a solid background in the fundamentals of their disciplines, to foster intellectual maturity, and to emphasize high moral and ethical standards. The division also develops technical knowledge that is relevant to their fields and prepares students to meet the professional and social challenges of a complex and rapidly changing world.
Graduates will leave our program with solid technical and professional competencies and will be good citizens who strive for high moral and ethical standards in their personal and professional lives. Our graduates will be aware of contemporary local, national and global issues, to become lifelong learners, and to seek continual professional improvements to adapt to the ever-changing technological demands of the contemporary workplace.
Departmental Objectives

Departmental Requirements
Complete a minimum of 121 credit hours, including all general education requirements, with a minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 2.0.
Complete all major courses with a minimum grade of “C“
Complete all course requirements and credit hours specified by the degree program.
Complete a senior project.
Complete the department exit examination.

Master of Science -
COMPUTER EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY
Master of Science Degree
in Computer Educational Technology is an educational computing and technology
facilitation endorsement (TF) programs meeting ISTE standards for preparing
candidates to serve as building/campus-level technology facilitators. This MS program is designed to meet the need
of individuals from two different career paths, which includes the teacher
advancement and initial certification.
The Teacher Advancement
Path: Tract I, which require 30 semester hours, is designed for candidates who
already have the State of Florida Teacher Certification.
The Initial Certification
Path: Tract II which require 36 semester hours and is designed for candidates
with an undergraduate or graduate degree in an area outside of education. This tract has built-in educational
components which will lead to the individuals seeking Initial certification for
grades K-12.
In addition to the course
work for both career paths, candidates in the program at the end of their
coursework would have the option of either completing a comprehensive
examination or a thesis. The thesis
(CET598) will require a minimum of three credits to graduate; if the thesis is
not completed and successfully defended then candidates can register for
additional hours by taking CET 599 from 1 to 3 credit hours until the process
is completed.
