The office is responsible for coordinating official University events hosted by the President and various University committees. The office lends promotional support to annual events such as the President’s Gala, Homecoming, Founders’ Day Convocation, Commencement, the Melton Mustafa Jazz Festival, and various events during Black History Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, and Women’s History Month.
In addition, the Office of Public Affairs assists with the direction of event planning elements such as program development, script writing, activation planning, logistical coordination, setup, production, hospitality and protocol.

The University was established by, and remains closely affiliated with, the Baptist Church. However, our motto, “Leadership, Character, and Service,” emphasizes Christian values. Strong moral character, mutual respect, freedom of worship, and a commitment to serve are the hallmarks of what it means to be a Florida Memorial Lion.
