Media Relations

The Public Affairs office is the “First-Stop Shop” for the media. We publish the Media Sourcebook of University Experts, which presents our faculty experts as resources for the community.  We keep the media informed of all events and activities at the University including breaking news, awards and achievements, academic programs, community outreach initiatives, and concerts and arts performances.  

The Office of Public Affairs produces and distributes news releases, media alerts and other materials for use by journalists to announce recent occurrences on campus. The office also assists journalists in covering pertinent stories at the University and coordinates crises management programs in the event of an emergency.

When news breaks or you’re tracking a trend, A Florida Memorial University expert will be available to assist you once news breaks or if you require an additional angle for your story. The Office of Public Affairs is prepared to match reporters and journalists with knowledgeable faculty members, administrators or students. Access to Campus and Credentials
If you are planning to cover a story that requires campus access or contact with any member of the Florida Memorial University(305) 626-3624 at least one week in advance of your desired date of arrival. faculty, staff, or student body, you must notify the Office of Public Affairs to obtain a media credential and written permission. Visiting Campus
Prior to any campus visit, all media outlets must provide the office with a list of specific needs. The office is willing to accommodate all media outlets as long as each request falls within the parameters of the University’s policies and procedures.
