FMU Family and Friends,
We all remember this time of year – registering for classes, moving in to the dorms, reconnecting with friends we missed over the summer break, AND getting our money and our minds ‘right’ to start classes!
Sadly, we have over 300 members of our FMU family who may not be able to share such fond memories. As of today, over 300 students are in need of financial assistance in order to clear the Business Office and register for classes.
This is not a surprise, over the past three years we have been learning from media reports from Essence to Time, that college students, especially those at HBCU’s (public and private) have to deal with new regulations that have tightened restrictions on Pell Grants, Parent PLUS requirements and the impact has negatively hurt those most in need, like our FMU students, who we all want to succeed and keep the #LionPride alive!
You can help us address this critical issue! We have established a Student Emergency Lion Fund accessible online today at www.fmuniv.edu. We need you to help us raise $100,000 by December 31 to ensure that the student’s financial need is met and we can continue to see the Promise fulfilled with students in classes this semester (and graduating)! The minimum gift that we ask is $50 to achieve this goal in the next 4 weeks! All gifts count because all students matter!
Thank you for your continued support.
