COUNSELING CONCERNS AND WORKSHOP TOPICS

People come to the center for many reasons:             

ØOverwhelming grief or sadness

ØAngry outbursts and irritable feelings
ØDealing with being raped or desire to learn  prevention
ØFeeling stressed out
ØPoor study habits and skills
ØConcerns about drugs or alcohol use
ØConflict within relationships or marriage
ØManaging chronic psychological disorders
ØTest anxiety affecting exam performance
ØSexual orientation questions or lifestyle issues
ØDisruption of performance in class or work
ØAnxiety, worry, or difficulty sleeping
ØDifficulty managing eating behavior or maintaining healthy weight
ØLoneliness and poor socialization skills
ØSelf-esteem and confidence issues
ØMediation of roommate conflicts
ØSlow adjustment to college life

 HELP HOTLINE

A Counselor is available by beeper after regular office hours to respond to students experiencing acute emotional distress or is a danger to self or others.  After Center hours, call (305) 626-3139 and put in the phone number to be reached (followed by the #).  A Counselor-On-Call will respond. If an emergency occurs during regular hours, you may contact the Counseling Center at (305) 626-3138.
