MIAMI GARDENS – (February 12, 2014) – Ricardo Forbes, a leading executive with Baptist Health South Florida, has been appointed to the Board of Trustees at Florida Memorial University.

Forbes is the corporate vice president and chief diversity officer for Baptist Health South Florida. He is responsible for developing the strategy for diversity and inclusion programs at the multi-cultural, multi-ethnic and multi-language healthcare organization. Mr. Forbes was previously vice president of Baptist Hospital, an affiliate of Baptist Health.

The FMU Board is the university’s governing body.  On the Board, Forbes will serve on the Facilities Committee and the Institutional Advancement, Government Relations and Public Affairs Committee.

Charles George, chairman of the Board of Trustees, said Forbes’ business experience and community involvement is in line with FMU’s history of academic excellence and empowerment. “We’re ecstatic to welcome Ricardo Forbes to our ranks. He will enhance this body, and our campus,” George said.

At Baptist Hospital, Mr. Forbes had been responsible for medical staff services, emergency care, medical records, respiratory care, pharmacy, social services, security and rehabilitation. Prior to joining Baptist Hospital, he was administrative director at Parkway Regional Medical Center, and an administrator at Jackson Memorial Hospital and administrator of University of Miami Hospital and clinic. Mr. Forbes sits on numerous community boards.
