Mission Statement

The mission of Florida Memorial University Office of Public Affairs is to enhance the image and make the services, goals, activities, and accomplishments of Florida Memorial University known to our special audiences. Using media relations, publications, media relations, community relations, education, and events, the office disseminates key messages about the Florida Memorial University's teachers, students, academic programs, research, history and special events.   The office provides public relations planning and support to the marketing needs of individual programs and the overall strategy of Florida Memorial University. The office analyzes, and interprets public opinion, attitudes and issues that might impact the operations and plans of university and advises the President and Board of Trustees on appropriate communication strategies.

Community Relations: Local, National and International

Florida Memorial University Office of Public Affairs seeks to bring greater visibility and recognition to the university as a national and international leader in higher education.   This will be accomplished by communicating effectively and regularly with the institution's major constituencies including: alumni, students and prospective students, parents, faculty and staff, patients, the health care and higher education communities, church communities, friends of the university, foundations, corporations, the news media, and the general public.

Internal Information

Throughout the Florida Memorial University internal community, the Office of Public Affairs is responsible for keeping faculty and staff informed of events, activities and administrative actions.

Media Relations

The Public Affairs office is the primary contact and the first stop for the media.  We publish Media Resource guides, which outlines our speakers bureau and presents our faculty experts as sources and resources for the community.  We keep the media informed off all events and activities at the university including academic programs and news, personnel news, sporting events, concerts and arts performances. The Office of Public Affairs produces news releases and other materials for use by journalists, works with journalists to cover stories and experts at Florida Memorial University, and produces a monthly faculty/staff newspaper. The PA staff directs issues management and crises communications programs and promotes cultural events and athletics.
