Q. Do I have to take the CPT
A.
If you do not have current SAT (440-Math, 420 English) and/or ACT (19 Composite) scores, you must take the CPT before you can register for college credit courses at Florida Memorial University. If you have current SAT and/or ACT scores when you apply for admission, your academic advisor may use those scores to establish course placement.

Is there a fee for taking the CPT?
A.
There is no fee for taking the placement test.
 
Q.
How can I prepare for the CPT?
A.
The purpose of the CPT is to determine your current skill levels in English, reading, and mathematics. Please see sample questions for students.
 
Q.
When and where can I take the CPT?
A.
You may call the Testing Center between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. The contact number is 305-626-3775.
   
Q. Do I need to know how to use a computer?
A.
You do not need prior computer experience to take the test. The test instructions are easy to understand.
   
Q. Is the test timed?
A.
No. The CPT is not timed. Therefore, you should give each question as much thought as needed. (Note: Once you answer a question, you cannot return to it).
